I started artwork early making plaster statues and painting them. Around the age of 10 or 11, I started trying my hand at pen and ink. After having 2 children, I decided it was the right time to pursue this form of artwork once more. Water colours were my first choice then I moved onto oils and finally, pen and ink.
On a trip to South Carolina with my husband and good friends, is when I first discovered gourds. I was taken by the unique shapes and thought they would make a great canvas for artwork. The artwork is very interesting as no two gourds are the same. I have now taken my work to gourds in the form of wood burning, carving, coiling and painting.
I hope you enjoy this work as much as I did making it.

Gourds date back as far as 100 B.C. and were used to hold water as well as various foods.
